Ceasefires. I’ll admit my intentions were to go in a different direction today. This isn’t supposed to be today’s DT, Every day I’m conflicted…debating whether I’m misusing my influence…love or fear…but today we’ll extend an olive branch:
Campeones. Despite the injuries, lack of Belotti-worthy ST (besides Joselu), Vini + Rodrygo being short kings, Jude Bellingham’s first year + shoulder injury, no-Musiala, Carlo’s suffering, Modric’s inability to turn, Fede’s roadrunnerisms, Rodrygo purple patches, Brahim Diaz being not as good as Leroy Sane, Kepa Arrizabalaga existing, Atletico set piece demises, La Liga being surely incompetent when it comes to running a league, Almeria whistles, the Bernabeu grass and Barcelona levers, Real Madrid Club de Futbol are Campeones de La Liga for the 36th time.
Rather than a Vini v Mbappe debate, an “I Told You So”, or a fight about Carlo (or whether Xabi could do this) or whatever nonsense will surely come in this thread, let’s just celebrate the season. Let’s celebrate our players. Let’s celebrate the board, the coaching staff, and the general Bernabeu staff. It’s been a hard-fought campaign and you all deserve praise.
There’s a lot of players to highlight but for now congrats to Bellingham, Tchouameni, Joselu, Arda (and anyone else I missed) on their first league title! And an ample congrats to players like Lunin, and Rudiger. You weren’t expected to be title changers and yet you were.
The incredible consistency shown even with the injury crisis has won Real Madrid the league. Not just Jude Bellingham, not just Vinicius Jr, not just Andriy Lunin. Consistency, rotation and brilliance from every player. Hala Madrid.
